I really, really hate that I have to state this, but there’s so much Generative AI-slop out there (yes, even content that pretends to be scientific). Know that I do not use AI for any of my writings, visuals nor thoughts. It’s all written and visualised by a human, meaning me, unless stated otherwise. Therefore, you can always reach out to me if there’s anything factually or grammatically incorrect.

Now, thank you for your interest in this page – I hope you enjoy it!

I visited Bath on two occasions during my geology studies in Bristol. While my travel companion Sophie was busy browsing through bookshops in Bath, I obsessed over the local geology in the nearby Smallcombe Wood.

Back then in the middle of the Jurassic Period, the area sported a warm climate with shallow seas harbouring bountiful reefs. Breaking up these waters, were islands strewn in between. As the limestone shows, there was plenty of life in these waters back then.

If you happen to be in Bath at any point, the area has loads of sedimentary rock exposures from the Jurassic age. You might need to avoid some of the tourist hotspots though – they’re fairly busy.
