Undeniably, it’s been an interesting series of years with huge record-breaking earthquakes and their associated tsunamis in 2010, 2011 and 2012 and then that meteor over Chelyabinsk in 2013. Of course, the events have been happening for billions of years. The crazy part is that we can observe them.
A mind getting to observe these things, through that existentially mind-fucking thing called the Internet, has a lot to wrestle with. Especially since people going through these events can now photograph, film and distribute the evidence and first-hand visuals. Likely, this sketch came about over a three-day period from these thoughts.
The entire planet at our disposal through a personal electronic device – smartphone, tablet or computer.
I don’t think we’ve fully grasped the effects of this at different scales. Having the entire planet available to observe in near real-time is… I don’t know… existentially threatening, amazing, alarming, scary, simply threatening or just beautiful?
