A twice-in-a-lifetime event

Video - Space stuff
2012 | Copenhagen, Denmark

Historically I’ve not been a morning person, but I got up for this one!

Observing the passing of the planet Venus in front of the Sun on the 6th of June 2012 ended up being a once-in-a-lifetime event for me. While a previous Venus transit had taken place in 2004, it was this one eight years later that I was destined to witness!

The next transit will happen in 2117, so sorry to those of you who missed it.

As you can see in the video above, the event had to be seen with some kind of a viewing filter that could block some of the sun’s eye-roasting radiation. The planet was but a dot on the yellow disc, but none the less, I remember the eerie and surreal feeling of witnessing the planetary dot travelling across.

I’ll be dead before I get to see such an event again.

Also:

I really, really hate that I have to state this, but there’s so much Generative AI-slop out there (yes, even content that pretends to be scientific). Know that I do not use AI for any of my writings, visuals nor thoughts. It’s all written and visualised by a human, meaning me, unless stated otherwise. Therefore, you can always reach out to me if there’s anything factually or grammatically incorrect.

Now, thank you for your interest in this page – I hope you enjoy it!
